I hate to say “oh this is my boyfriend”

The word boyfriend in general irks me

And I realized it bothers me because it seems really impersonal

I hate to describe someone in relation to me like they aren’t their own person with their own personality

Like I own them

I feel so awkward when someone asks and I have to reply “Oh yea, this is my boyfriend”

Haven’t gotten over it
